NSF in words of the Founder
Neuro Sciences Foundation is helmed by Professor Dr. Shakil Jehangir Malik. Driven by an early fascination with the myriad mysteries of the brain and a deep commitment to human dignity, Dr. Malik established NSF Pakistan when psychiatric care in Pakistan was marred by stigma and inhumane practices.
With 43 years of clinical and academic experience and postgraduate qualifications from Pakistan, the UK, Ireland, and Canada, Dr. Malik has dedicated his life to advocating for and transforming mental health services.
Dr. Malik's passion for neuro-psychiatry and community development has redefined care for underserved individual patients and has also uplifted entire communities through sustainable, people-centered initiatives.

At NSF Pakistan, our impact is measurable with significant numbers.
15,000+ patients with serious mental health conditions receive free psychiatric care every year at our clinics, strengthening Pakistan’s capacity to address mental health challenges.
Since the establishment of our first neuro-psychiatric clinic in Mohra Fatima (1998), our community development model has revitalized once-deprived villages-improving healthcare, education, sanitation, and civic facilities.
We have trained over 2,000 professionals in neuro-psychiatry and mental health care, strengthening Pakistan’s capacity to address mental health challenges sustainably.
With over 27 years of dedicated service in Pakistan starting from pioneering model at Mohra Fatima, we are one of the largest providers of free mental healthcare in the country.
NSF which follows from our work at Mohra Fatima has become a beacon of hope for thousands of poor marginalized mentally sick people.
Along with rural psychiatry services at Mohra Fatima we also have led trauma relief efforts from providing disaster management during the 2005 earthquake and post-flood training in 2010–11 to advising on crisis management during global tragedies.
Our specialized training programs have empowered professionals across the military, civil, and community sectors, reinforcing our commitment to holistic mental health care.
